affordable homes, delivered

Flora House Exterior_008.jpg

getting affordable homes through planning is only half the job. the other half is getting them built, on budget and to standard. with alexander james contracts (ajc), we have helped deliver around ten affordable and social housing schemes for councils and housing associations.

on many of these projects, we join at the contractor stage, taking on a design prepared by others and turning it into buildable technical information. where a design doesn't quite work, we refine it, solving problems on paper before they become costly on site.

planning permission doesn't house anyone.

affordable homes only make a difference once families move in. that depends on design information that contractors can build from, quickly and without surprises. it's less visible than winning consent, but it's where much of the value is added.

03

a lasting partnership

more than a decade of working together means ajc knows what to expect from us, and we understand how they build. that trust is what keeps the programme moving scheme after scheme.

02

improving as we go

where a layout, detail or specification doesn't work, we propose better alternatives, often saving time and cost while improving the homes for the people who will live in them.

01

picking up the design

contractor-led projects often arrive with a design prepared for planning, not construction. we check it, fill the gaps and develop the technical detail, so ajc can price and build with confidence.
