farmor's school, fairford

farmor's school in fairford needed better sports facilities, and so did the town's rugby, youth football and cricket clubs. we were asked to extend and modernise the school's sports hall and add a new 3g pitch (an all-weather artificial surface), creating facilities that serve pupils by day and the wider community in the evenings and at weekends.
the project brought together many voices. working closely with the school and each club, we shaped the design around how the facilities would really be used, while resolving ecology, archaeology and environmental requirements along the way.
a school can be the heart of a town's sporting life.
school sports facilities often sit empty outside term time. designed with the community from the start, they can become a shared resource, giving local clubs a home and bringing people together across generations.

working with the site
ecology surveys, archaeology and environmental improvements all shaped the scheme, so the new facilities sit well in their setting and leave the site better than before.
02
a pitch for all weathers
the new 3g pitch gives year-round playing time for school and club use alike, taking pressure off grass pitches and keeping games going through the winter.
01
listening to every user
the school, rugby club, youth football and cricket all had different needs. early and ongoing engagement meant the final design works for each of them, from changing provision to pitch access.
