The former fire station was in poor condition when it was purchased by our clients. The brief was to refurbish the building and convert it into use as modern living units. Its great location close to the sea made it a fantastic and sustainable location for housing. Colony decided to play on its former use as a fire station to bring character to the property, and the inside was furnished with graphics depicting its former use. Historic photos of the old fire station were found and used as reference material for conservation officer agreement with the proposals. Support was gained and the result is a vibrant and characterful addition to the area.

we are very pleased with this consent, and the design was unexpected!”
