A tricky site in the woods, with substantial and mature oaks taking a grand stance central to the plot. Abundance ecology including slowworms, hedgehogs, frogs, deer and foxes make regular use of this site. The fun part is working out how to allow people to live alongside nature on this wonderful plot. The proposals sought to bring positive benefits in all areas – the residents could live in a modern and comfortable house; the trees could be improved with supplemental native laid hedging; the animals catered for through sensitive apportionment of ecological zones in the garden and ensuring residents understand the careful balance they are part of.

it’s great to see a developer putting the interests of resident ecology at the top of the list of site benefits
