Colony was approached by long-term collaborator AJC to deliver this block of 5 zero carbon town houses complete with paved gardens, balconies, and impressive living spaces. Situated in the heart of Greenwich the development fills an impressive plot measuring over 330m². With a fully enclosed site boundary in a busy residential area, there were multiple complexities in the construction organisation and Colony’s technical delivery was fundamental to meeting these needs. Royal Borough of Greenwich set a high bar in their policy requirement for zero-carbon housing, and Colony responded by delivering units with superinsulation, solar PV panels, air source heat pumps, whole-house mechanical ventilation and heat recovery, air tight envelope, low energy fittings, and off-site manufacture of the timber frame structure and window cassettes. The scheme also gained secure-by-design accreditation and exceeded Building Regulations Part L (energy efficiency).
“Colony’s technical and environmental design knowledge has really made Greenwich’s aspirations for low carbon housing possible”
